The Way to Wealth

Benjamin FranklinThe Way to Wealth

Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Remember that time is money. He that can have patience, can have what he will. God helps them that help themselves.

Published in 1758 as a preface to Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanack, The Way to Wealth collects proverbs on thrift, diligence, and patience into a single speech delivered by a fictional old man, "Father Abraham." Many of its lines, including these, became lasting pieces of American folk wisdom.
